No puncture… but can I still get hurt?

If the knife doesn’t get through, am I still gonna get hurt? Like, can the hit itself still mess me up?

Yeah, It’s still possible. Even if the blade doesn’t penetrate the garment, a hard hit can still cause bruising, soreness, or other blunt-force injuries.
